DoT's latest road safety campaign

The DoT's Road Safety Unit has launched a new campaign, based on the motto: 'Safer Drivers Look Out For Others'.

It's thought that something like one in ten drivers on Manx roads would fail the current legal eyesight standard for drivers.

The Manx Highway Code says you must be able to read a standard number plate from a distance of 20? metres, or 67 feet, which is about the length of five parked cars.

If you can't, the unit says you should book a free eye test without delay, as you might be posing a risk to others, and committing an offence.

Road safety Training Co-ordinator, Andrea Georgeson, says the idea for the campaign came to her in a moment of inspiration, during an eyesight test! (audio file attached):
