Fire alarm saved lives

A Douglas woman has told Manx Radio's listeners how an alarm saved her and her children's lives in a house fire at the weekend.

The blaze was started by a faulty incense stick which caused the living rooms sofa to go up in flames.

Sandy Moore controlled the fire using salt, towels and water, but says it could have been a lot worse.

The Isle of Man Fire Service has run a number of campaigns to make the public more aware of the importance of having functioning alarms installed in their homes.

And on Talking Heads today Mrs Moore urged everybody to follow the advice (audio file attached):
