European Ploughing Championships

Ploughmen from across Europe will gather at Great Meadow, Castletown this weekend for the European Vintage Ploughing Championships.

It’s the tenth year of the event, and there will be representatives from countries such as Austria, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Denmark, France and Ireland.

The championships are the largest ploughing event the Isle of Man has ever hosted.

Chairman of the event, Roy Ferguson, says there are more types of ploughing than most people realise (audio file attached):
