Mussels survey next week

by isleofman.com 31st August 2007
Boats and ships have been asked to keep an eye out for divers inspecting some of the Island’s marine wildlife next week.

Divers will be off the Point of Ayre carrying out a survey of horse mussels on the sea bed.

The survey is being carried out by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and is scheduled to start on Monday, although poor weather may delay operations.

Dr Fiona Gell says it’s important for mariners to give the site a wide berth (audio file attached):

For more details about when and where the survey is taking place you can ring Douglas Harbour Control on 686628.
