Bye-laws available for viewing

by isleofman.com 31st August 2007
Douglas Corporation is reviewing and updating its bye-laws, and making them available for public consultation.

The aim is to ensure they are relevant, and reflect modern-day civic responsibility.

Enforcement officer, Neil Cringle, says staff have been mindful to include those who cause as well as perpetrate offences.

New elements have also been introduced relating to obstructions caused by refuse bins and ensuring they don’t block the highway, as often happens in back lanes around Douglas.

Five sets of bye-laws are already available in draft form for examination, namely the general, dogs, trams, markets and housing categories.

They can be viewed on the Corporation’s website (www.douglas.gov.im), at the Town Hall or any police station in the town.
