Minister defends landfill site

by isleofman.com 28th August 2007
The DoLGE Minister is again defending his department's moves to construct a landfill site at Archallagan Plantation.

On Manx Radio's Talking Heads programme today John Shimmin said the environmental implications were looked at four years ago, when planning permission was granted.

Chair of opposition group ASAP, Jill Crossley, claims Archallagan is a poor choice because it's at the top of a hill and the confluence of three rivers.

Mr Shimmin says all issues will be given full and fair consideration (audio file attached):

The issue will be discussed at a public meeting, organised by Glenfaba MHK David Anderson, at Foxdale Primary School, from 7.30pm tomorrow.
