Money raised for injured driver

Around ?5000 has been raised in one afternoon this weekend - to help the family of a Douglas man left seriously injured after a road accident.

Friends and family of 28-year old Chris Walmsley held a 12-hour music marathon featuring local bands at the Haven in Port Erin on Saturday.

Chris remains in a neurological hospital in Bury more than eight months after he was hit by a car on Richmond Hill in Braddan.

Chris's mum Carol says she's been overwhelmed at people's generosity.

Funds raised will help the family maintain a house near the hospital - Carol says frequent visits are the best way to help Chris on his road to recovery:
