'Excellent' GCSE results

Well over half of the Island's GCSE passes have been at the higher grades A* to C.

The Department of Education has released the provisional results, and the overall pass rate of 98.1% is the highest figure for four years.

There was also the equivalent of 120 A* to C passes in BTEC Engineering and Construction courses as well Health and Social Care.

Paul Craine, Co-ordinating Adviser for 11-19 Education, says it's been a record year for GCSE Manx as well:
