Brown jailed and banned

by isleofman.com 23rd August 2007
A woman driver who failed to provide breath samples following arrest for suspicion of drink driving has been jailed by the High Bailiff for 30 days.

Yvonne Mary Brown of Derby Road in Douglas appeared for sentence.

The defendant was arrested in Peel after police on patrol saw her clip a parked car causing damage to a headlight.

Brown's advocate Darren Talbot pleaded for a suspended sentence. He said the defendant was parking her car so that it would not pose a danger, when the accident happened. She did not leave the scene and she accepted that she was given every chance to provide a sample at police headquarters. She had stupidly taken her medication with alcohol.

Mr Moyle said she had viewed the CCTV footage taken in the incident room at police headquarters which showed she was asked on six occasions to provide samples, but her actions were to prevaricate and claim that she did not know what was going on.

Brown was also disqualified from driving for three years.
