Young voter appeal

The Speaker of the House of Keys says politicians need to make sure voting stays relevant to 16 and 17 year olds.

In an article for The Parliamentarian magazine, which is distributed to members of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Steve Rodan writes about the Isle of Man's decision to lower the voting age from 18 and the impact it had on the 2006 General Election.

Mr Rodan also mentions the pioneering decision to extend voting to women in 1881.

He says politics needs to appeal to young people:
