Foreign workers boost labour market

A senior member of the Department of Trade and Industry has backed an ongoing influx of migrant workers coming to the Isle of Man.

The Department's Deputy Chief Executive, Mark Kelly, says people are granted work permits because they're needed to fill jobs in the Island's booming labour market.

A need to curb the amount of foreign workers coming into the Island was, according to some House of Keys candidates, a major issue during last year's general election.

But Mr Kelly believes the demographic changes to the Island's workforce over the last 20 years is a positive thing:
