Don't discriminate against nurses

Trades council president Bernard Moffatt has called for all of the Island’s nurses to be treated equally.

He says the council is pursuing a complaint, made against an Island employee, which saw immigrant nurses sacked over allegations he says would normally only have warranted a warning.

Mr Moffatt also claims the nurses were given just two days to appeal against the decision – far shorter than normal.

He says it’s because the nurses are immigrants, and has called on the Department of Trade and Industry to make sure employment contracts don’t discriminate (audio file attached):
