Voting list update begins again

The Electoral Registration Unit is hoping the response to its second attempt to update the voting list will be better.

Only one in three households replied to its initial canvass in July.

The process will result in a new Register of Electors to be published on October 1.

South Douglas MHK, David Cretney, was one of those responsible for forcing a review of voting following the 2001 election.

He says in retrospect, election year in 2006 was not a good time to revise the list (audio file attached):
