Thanks a million!

Save the Children has thanked the Island, calling it the most generous place in the British Isles.

In the last seven years, the charity says fundraisers here have raised more than ?1 million through Manx branches and its three charity shops.

The Isle of Man is also the first region to sponsor a dedicated project for Save the Children and is currently rebuilding four Sri Lankan schools with help from the government’s Overseas Aid Committee.

Vice president of Save the Children Isle of Man, Rosemary Walters, says the figures are staggering given our population (audio file attached):
