Appeal for MGP Marshals

by isleofman.com 11th August 2007
Organisers of the Manx Grand Prix have spoken out to reassure marshals worried by the possibility they could face criminal charges in the wake of an incident during racing.

A Sector Marshal was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after a crash during this year’s Senior TT which claimed the lives of a rider and two spectators.

The Attorney General has recommended the case shouldn’t go to court, but marshals were worried enough to stay away from this year’s event, prompting concerns the event might not be able to go ahead.

Clerk of the Course Neil Hanson says there’s a sense of relief among organisers, and he’s appealing for marshals to sign up.

But he said he understood the concerns of potential volunteers.
