Hyperbaric chamber responds again

The arrival on Sunday of a diver from the Lake District suffering from 'the bends' or decompression sickness, was the third such emergency in just a couple of weeks for the Isle of Man's Hyperbaric Chamber.

Again, the diver was brought here after a low-level helicopter flight after closer UK facilities were discounted for various reasons.

After prompt treatment in the Isle of Man, the diver is expected to make a complete recovery.

Manager David Downie says there ARE UK facilities, but on this occasion they either weren't available, or weren't suitable:
