Germany calling

One Isle of Man army cadet - at training camp with 12 Regiment of the Royal Artillery - has been learning how to fend for himself in the forests around the Sennelager base in Germany.

Along with sixty others, Cadet Terry Halpen has been drilling, hiking, shooting and enjoying a range of outdoor pursuits. MHK Quintin Gill (pictured) visited the group this week and was hugely impressed.

As Stuart Peters found out in Mandate this morning - Cadet Halpen's new- found culinary skills will probably come in handy when he returns home this weekend:
