MHK slams electricity price rise

The 6.9% increase in Manx electricity bills from September will be a disaster for many people this winter, according to a North Douglas MHK.

Bill Henderson (pictured) says those on low or fixed incomes, including pensioners and many young families, are already facing other above-inflationary rises, and some will struggle to cope.

He says the spectre of 'fuel poverty' remains very real:
