Douglas man admits theft of car

A man who took a car, damaged and abandoned it, stole items inside and then, when challenged by police denied all knowledge, has been given a suspended sentence.

Ian Brown of Castle Drive in Douglas took the car from North Quay and then abandoned it in Patrick after the clutch burned out.

When police caught up with him, some time later, he denied it at first.
Along with the suspended 5 year sentence, he has to pay nearly ?600 compensation.
