School under investigation

by isleofman.com 26th July 2007
The Department of Education has launched an investigation into affairs at Castle Rushen High School.

Manx Radio understands a significant number of parents, staff, members of the public and politicians have raised concerns, largely to do with aspects of the leadership and management within the school.

A series of meetings has been arranged for people to speak to the deputy director and the head of human resources at the DoE.

The exact nature of the complaints isn't known, but the investigation appears extensive with meetings taking place this week and next, with written submissions accepted.

In a statement, the department says it can confirm it has decided to carry out a special inspection of some aspects of Castle Rushen High School (pictured).

The inspection began before the end of term and is continuing over the school holiday period and into the start of the autumn term.

It says it would be inappropriate for the department to make any further statements until the inspection has been completed.
