Douglas gets ready for Britain in Bloom

by isleofman.com 25th July 2007
The Britain in Bloom judges are heading for Douglas.

They’ll arrive in the capital on August 10 as the town looks to build on last year’s success when it won a silver award in the small town category.

Douglas Corporation is seeking the support of both ratepayers and commercial organisations to make sure the capital looks its best.

Council leader, David Christian, says the competition isn’t just about flower displays, but the environment as a whole and the Corporation is working with schools, banks and businesses on various projects.

The Corporation’s parks department’s also operating a hanging baskets scheme to encourage businesses to decorate their premises - and has provided more than 200 so far this year.
