Food radioactivity levels not hazardous

by isleofman.com 24th July 2007
No hazardous levels of radioactivity have been found in Manx food tested by the Department of Local Government and the Environment.

Seafood, dairy and meat products have been checked for its annual report on food safety.

Officials says this reflects well on the Sellafield nuclear facility based on the North-West coast of England.

But Senior Scientist at the Government Laboratory, Dr Paul McKenna (pictured), says radioactivity from dumped materials could take thousands of years to die away (audio file attached):

Pressure group, the Celtic League, has responded to these findings by suggesting the fact technetium is no longer declining in the Irish Sea in recent years, should be investigated.
