Green Day at Castletown

Year seven pupils at Castle Rushen High School will be more aware of the environmental challenges facing the world after today.

They swopped normal lessons for a series of fun workshops, showing how everyone can play a part in protecting the planet, by thinking global and acting local.

The children rotated around 15 different workshops, with activities ranging from wood carving and paper re-cycling to making murals and cooking organic food.

Cheryl Cousins from the One World Centre, which supported the day, says the aim was to open the children's eyes to some big issues:
