MER Society defends stance

The secretary of the Manx Electric Railway Society has defended his organisation's call for the resignation of the Minister for Tourism.

The move came after Adrian Earnshaw admitted he hadn't read the conservation policy for the trams, drawn up between his predecessor David Cretney and the society, and didn't endorse it. He also said he believed a collection of old trams stored at the Homefield depot in Douglas were surplus to requirements and should be scrapped when the lease on the property runs out in two year's time.

Speaking on yesterday's Sunday opinion programme, Julian Nutter said there was a simple reason why they believe he should go
