Airport extension survives appeal

by isleofman.com 20th July 2007
A bid to halt the runway extension at Ronaldsway in its tracks has failed.

It was claimed that feasibility studies into alternative proposals were unsatisfactory and that enough information about them had not been released.

It was also said that the cost of extending the main runway was financially unsound and that night-time construction would disturb nearby residents.

In throwing out those objections, the Inspector said "a national need over-rode environmental worries."
