Cretney hopeful over MER row

A former Tourism Minister who introduced a policy to maintain the 114 year old Manx Electric Railway is hopeful a row between his successor and the MER Society will be resolved.

The society has called for Adrian Earnshaw to resign for failing to back David Cretney's conservation policy, amid concern historic trams at the Homefield Depot in Douglas could be scrapped when the lease expires in two years time.

However, Mr Cretney believes agreement can be reached between both parties:
