Tynwald Day petitions 'on the table'

by isleofman.com 20th July 2007
The Clerk of Tynwald's office has confirmed that four petitions for redress of grievance were presented at the annual ceremony at St John's this month.

Margaret Bendall wants an inquiry into eligibility for the Manx Pension Supplement, and Patricia Anne Kelly is seeking a select committee investigation into circumstances surrounding alleged assaults on her at Castle Rushen High School.

Edward Michael Thomas McBride wants an investigation into the way officials within the DHSS handle allegations of child abuse and Brenda Elizabeth Williams is asking for a select committee to look into the conduct of the Post Office when issuing driving licences.

The petitions have been confirmed as conforming with the required standards and have been 'put on the table' in the usual way.

It's now up to members of Tynwald to decide whether to pick any of them up, and take the matters further.
