Ballymoney twinning

by isleofman.com 19th July 2007
Douglas Council’s looking for volunteers to help build on the town’s links with its ‘twin’ borough council, Ballymoney in Northern Ireland, birthplace of TT star Joey Dunlop.

The two authorities were officially twinned last November since which there’s been exchange sporting engagements, while rugby and hockey teams from the County Antrim town are due to play matches against Douglas sides in August.

Chairman of Douglas Corporation’s twinning sub-committee, Dot Pitts, says both authorities are forging strong sporting, cultural and educational links.

It wants to form a twinning association made up of volunteer members of the public, representatives from schools, sporting associations, the arts, drama and the business community.

Anyone interested should send details to Mrs Pitts at the Town Hall by July the 31st.
