Electoral inquiry deadline extended

The original deadline for comments regarding possible problems with the electoral register has been extended.

An enquiry was launched last year after problems were encountered prior to last year's General Election.

Tynwald appointed advocate John Wright to investigate whether people were disenfranchised, if so what the reasons were, whether resources allocated to registration of electors are sufficient, and whether those in charge discharged their responsibilities.

He will also look into proxy and absentee voting

Mr Wright says the deadline has been extended to ensure as many people as possible, particularly younger voters, have the chance to comment:
