Complaints vote welcomed

A former Greater Manchester police officer has welcomed Tynwald’s rejection of a new police complaints procedure.

Roy Redmayne, who lives in Castletown, petitioned the government because he felt his complaint against the Manx force hadn’t been dealt with properly, leading to a select committee investigation.

He says the select committee recommended an independent body be set up to oversee the police, but that wasn’t part of the discussion in Tynwald on Tuesday night.

Politicians voted to reject Home Affairs Minister Martyn Quayle’s proposals, a move which Mr Redmayne (pictured) says he welcomes.

He says the next step should now be clear:
