Strategic Plan approved

by isleofman.com 11th July 2007
Tynwald has given its backing to the All Island Strategic Plan, despite the possibility of a legal challenge by a local developer.

After a long debate those rejections were over ruled.

Now it has been passed, it will become the blueprint for future housing and property development in the Island.

Baccarat Limited, through its solicitors Quinn Kneale, expressed the view the plan was unsafe, because the Department of Local Goverment and the Environment had not carried out some of the recommendations made by the independent inspector.

A further letter from Heritage Homes Limited also asked for the plan to be re-examined, but Tynwald's support for the department won the day, by 30 votes to two.

The Attorney General advised that DoLGE had acted in accordance with the Town And Country Planning Act of 1999, saying he was not aware of any grounds for challenge.
