Minister defends consultants' fees

Treasury Minister Allan Bell doesn't believe goverment has been paying too much to consultants advising on capital projects.

He says a number of infrastructure projects have resulted in over ?32 million being spent on professional fees over the last five years.

After giving the figure in Tynwald, Mr Bell (pictured) sparked a debate about whether the money would be better spent by the government employing more staff.

But he said with so many projects, the figure wasn’t unreasonable:
