Moffatt assesses work permit review

The Isle of Man's work permit committee should be given more powers.

That’s the view of the President of the Trades Council, Bernard Mofatt, after studying the long-awaited review of the work permit system.

The independence of the review, made public recently, has been questioned.

Mr Moffatt believes it sends out a message to the public that the rules aren’t lax while, at the same time, trying to appease members of the business sector who have criticised the difficulties in obtaining permits:
