?1,000 reward after war memorial damage

A one thousand pounds reward has been put up to catch those who vandalised the War Memorial in Lezayre.

The rifle from the Soldier Statue was snapped off - the remnants left scattered nearby.

The Island's war veterans - and the wider Manx public - are incensed at the desecration.

Now, two 'new' veterans - who've served in the forces since the Second World War - have each offered ?500 for information leading to conviction of the vandals.

The Royal British Legion's Major Charles Wilson says people are outraged and upset (audio file attached):
