New ?1.6m clubhouse to benefit community

The leader of Douglas Council believes the soon to be built new Douglas Golf Clubhouse will be a great benefit to the local community and will ease the financial burden on ratepayers.

David Christian (pictured) says the ?1.6 million development should also secure the future of the course itself.

It was announced at the recent Isle of Man Golf Championship that construction is begining within the next couple of weeks and is due for completion in a year's time.

Mr Christian has high hopes for the new facility (audio file attached):
