Tynwald Day success in Rhodes

Tynwald Day has proved to be the most successful day so far for the Isle of Man team at the Nat West Island Games in Rhodes.

Between them Manx athletes won two golds, seven silvers and seven bronze medals.

The golds went to cyclist Andrew Roche in the men's time trial, and to the Isle of Man team in the same event.

The outstanding performance from a silver medal winner came from sprinter Thomas Riley in the 100 metres, who missing out on the gold, to a competitor from Rhodes, by one hundredth of a second.

Tomorrow is the final day of competition and there will be a preview of the action involving Manx competitors on Mandate, on our FM service, shortly after 8.20am.

Unofficially the Isle of Man now has ten gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze medals.
