Tynwald ceremony

by isleofman.com 5th July 2007
This year's Tynwald ceremony got underway on time and in fine weather.

The Lieutenant Governor Vice Admiral Sir Paul Haddacks arrived at St John's at 10.40 this morning and was greeted by the fanfare, then a flypast by two Hawk jet aircraft from RAF Valley: (first audio cut)

Whilst many MHK's and other dignitaries are experienced hands at the Tynwald ceremony, for some it was their first the first time on the Hill after last November's General Election. Speaking as he arrived Rushen MHK Juan Watterson said he was proud to be involved: (second audio clip)

At the end of the church service the blessing was given for the last time by the Lord Bishop of Sodor and Mann, Graeme Knowles, who moves to London later this year to take up the position of Dean of St Pauls: (third audio clip)
