Bike thrown at team manager

by isleofman.com 4th July 2007
There was more controversy at the Nat West Island Games in Rhodes this evening.

Following the men's mountain bike event, a Menorcan rider threw a bicycle at the Isle of Man's cycling team manager Gary Hinds.

The incident followed representations from the Manx, and other teams, that the Menorcan had taken unauthorised short-cuts during the race.

On Manx Radio this evening Gary explained what happened to our sports editor, Tim Glover.

He said he went to where the short cuts were being taken, in some woods, and lay in wait as the Menorcan battled for the lead, and the gold medal, with the Isle of Man's Elliot Baxter (audio file attached):

It's expected to be confirmed that the Isle of Man does have two more Gold medals.
