Saddle Road widening

by isleofman.com 4th July 2007
A 10-week long scheme to widen Saddle Road in Braddan will begin next Monday (July 9).

Construction work on the road, between Vicarage Road and Peel Road, is scheduled for completion by September the 14th.

At its narrowest point it’s only 5.7 metres, considered by Transport officials as barely wide enough to permit the free flow of larger commercial and public service vehicles when they pass one another.

There are plans to create a standard 7.3 metres-wide road, new drainage, and a wider pavement, as well as improving visibility at the Church car park and Vicarage.

A section of Saddle Road will be closed for the duration of the work with access maintained to the Church car park and Vicarage.
