Foxes here, says top publication

by isleofman.com 2nd July 2007
The prestigious Manx Bird Atlas appears to be re-igniting the debate over foxes on the Isle of Man.

It claims that are at least a few here.

In a comment on animals present inside the island the Atlas says 'until 1987 foxes were absent. Then an anonymous introduction took place and it was suggested, by 1990, their numbers had reached three figures. While such an estimate seems to have been a gross exaggeration, there is no doubt that a few do exist'.

If a fox population became established, there would be concern about their effect on ground nesting birds, quite apart from the threat to poultry.
