Peel prepares for Viking Invasion

The Vikings will invade Peel again this week.

The 2007 Viking Festival gets underway today (Sunday) and will comprise a week-long programme of events.

Groups from Poland, Russia, France, Norway, England and the Isle of Man will be involved in re-enactments, and will welcome members of the public into the Viking village on the beach during the afternoon.

The opening ceremony is at 4pm this afternoon.

One of the organisers, Roy Baker, says there's plenty to see and do at the event (audio file attached):
