by isleofman.com 29th June 2007
There’s been a 30 per cent increase in the number of top-earning government staff.

The Island’s accounts, released by Treasury, show just 357 people working for the government earned ?50,000 or more in 2006.

But this year, that figure has risen to 509.

Jason Roberts reports (audio file attached):

The statistics show any government employees or members who earn between ?50,000 and ?200,000.

The largest increases are those earning up to ?70,000 – 128 people more than in 2006.

And last year nobody was paid more than ?190,000.

This year, however, the figures show one person is earning at least ?190,000.
