Work Permit review published

by isleofman.com 29th June 2007
An independent review of the Isle of Man's work permit system has been completed and is ready to go before Tynwald next month.

The research, carried out by the Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading's Chief Officer, Nick Black, was commissioned to find out if the current system benefits Isle of Man workers and the economy.

Overall, it's recommended the work permit legislation is made more flexible so the department has fewer applications to consider and can scrutinise them more thoroughly.

DTI Minister David Cretney, who requested the report, has praised the OFT's work and the very good public response, which made the exercise well worth undertaking.
