A 22 year old man has been fined ?500 by magistrates.

Christopher Derek Neal of Lakeside Road, Douglas, admitted possessing cannabis bush.

Stuart Peters has the details.

(Text of attached audio):

Inspector Richard Power, prosecuting, said police attended the defendant's flat, which at the time of the incident was on Marathon Road in Douglas, at 7.25pm on April 27th.

Officers could smell cannabis and when the door was opened by Neal he admitted he had just been smoking the drug. He became aggressive towards police and when they gained entry a cannabis bush and scales were found.

The bush weighed 109.4 grammes with a street value of ?423.

Neal's advocate Ian Kermode said the drug was for the defendant's own use, and he had now - of his own volition - reduced his intake of cannabis.

He told the court he was very remorseful.
