Island post faces UK dispute

by isleofman.com 23rd June 2007
The Manx Post office is working out how best to cope with the one day postal strike, called in the UK for next Friday (June 29).

The Unions are claiming the management is misleading the public over the reasons for the strike.

They say claims that a pay rise of 27 per cent was demanded was never asked for and the Union CWU claims they are not opposed to modernisation in any shape or form.

They claim Royal Mail are refusing to negotiate.

In the Isle of Man, workers are under a separate Manx agreement and therefore won't be joining in the action.

Post Ofice chair, Pam Crowe MLC, will be on Mandate on Monday morning to describe what action the Manx Post are taking to lessen any problems with deliveries.
