Policing the homeless

The head of the Douglas Neighbourhood Policing Scheme says officers will do what they can to help the Island’s homeless.

A member of the public occupying a squat in central Douglas earlier this week criticised the police for the way they deal with the issue.

A multi-agency task force was recently established to meet the needs of the homeless.

Inspector Ken Kneale says while officers can arrest individuals, they’d prefer to take a different approach:
