MER track renewal agreed

Spending over ?1.6 million on the next phase of track renewal for the Manx Electric Railway IS justifiable.

That's according to Tourism and Leisure Minister, Adrian Earnshaw who asked for, and was granted, the extra funding in yesterday's sitting of Tynwald.

The scheme involves the renewal of 3? miles of track, including the priority areas on both the Douglas to Laxey and Laxey to Ramsey sections of the MER.

Mr Earnshaw says it's still a very popular attraction for tourists and residents alike:
