New Luton air route required

by isleofman.com 19th June 2007
Airport Director Ann Reynolds says she's keen for the airport to reinstate a route to North London as soon as possible.

She was speaking as figures were released showing that the number of passengers passing through Isle of Man Airport last month (May) was just under 68,000 - virtually the same level as in the same month last year, despite the loss of the Luton service.

As she completes her first month in the job, Mrs Reynolds says there are some very encouraging signs, with Blackpool increasing 140%, Southampton 110% and the Belfast route up over 50%.

However, whilst a large proportion of traffic which used to use Luton has transferred to Gatwick, where figures are up by 30%, London traffic overall was down by almost 2,000 passengers, underlying the need to reinstate a north London route, either via Luton or Stansted.

The airport are seeking the views of both individuals and businesses as to which destination would best serve their needs. These can be sent direct to the director at the Airport or emailed to admin@iom-airport.com.
