Autism conference

by isleofman.com 18th June 2007
A major conference on Autistic Spectrum Disorder is being held in the Isle of Man at the end of the month.

The 'A-Z of ASD' will cover issues from diagnosis through education and behavioural interventions, to the factors which affect teenagers and adults with autism.

The National Autistic Society's Regional Director, Carol Evans, says although there are no official statistics, it's estimated over 1000 people on the Island have the condition.

She says early diagnosis is the key for helping children and their families understand and manage it:

Although it's primarily aimed at professionals working with people with autism, parents and carers of those affected are also welcome to go along.

For more information, or to book a place, email conference@nas.org.uk, or call 0115 911 3367.
