Steam Packet helps athletes

by isleofman.com 15th June 2007
The Steam Packet has stepped in to help around 80 competitors in the Island Games in Rhodes.

After a headache over travel arrangements for around a third of the Manx team, the company will transport members free of charge from Liverpool on the final leg of their return journey home.

Bicycles, ten sets of golf clubs, athletics blocks and shooting equipment will travel with the team.

The opening ceremony of the NatWest Island Games takes place on June 30.

The Isle of Man will compete in 13 of the 14 sports, with the bulk of the 219-strong Manx team travelling out four days before the event gets underway, for training and acclimatisation.
